This Understanding Workplace Violence and Harassment NCFE Level 2 qualification is designed for learners who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of workplace violence and harassment across any sector. This will focus on the study of possible causes of violence in the workplace and how to reduce the risk of workplace violence and harassment.
The objectives of this qualification are to:
- provide learners with an understanding of how organisational policies and procedures can contribute to a safe working environment
- provide learners with an understanding of why workplace violence may occur, the possible causes and how the risk of workplace violence can be reduced
- provide learners with an understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace

Eligibility
To qualify for government funding for a distance learning course you must be:
- Currently living in England
- A resident in the UK/EU/EEA* for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
- Aged 19+ (19-23 year olds must already hold a level 2 qualification prior to attainment)
- Not currently be on an apprenticeship

Course Length

This course can be completed faster if you are able to invest more study time over a shorter period of time.
The course must be completed before the submission deadline stated by your learning provider (normally a period of up to 10-12 weeks).
If you fail to complete your course within this time, without a previously agreed extension from your tutor, you may be charged an administration fee (normally £125) by your learning provider.
Assessment Method
This course requires no exams. You will instead be required to complete a series of assessment questions whilst you work your way through the course.
There are no maximum or minimum word counts for the assessments.
You will be required to submit your assessment answers to your tutor for marking, who will give you feedback on each question. It is important that you demonstrate to your tutor that you have fully understood the question and that you have applied your knowledge to each answer in a logical way.
If you do not pass an assessment, don’t worry! Your tutor will provide feedback which highlights the areas that need further attention in order for you to pass. You will then be able to re-attempt and re-submit your answers.
Certification
Upon completion of your final assessment, your work will be marked and you can expect to receive your Level 2 certificate within 8 to 12 weeks.

Course Units – Understanding Workplace Violence and Harassment (Level 2)
To be awarded the Understanding Workplace Violence and Harassment level 2 qualification, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units:
Unit 1 – Contributing to a positive and safe working environment
This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of how organisational policies and procedures can contribute to creating a positive and safe working environment, in addition to understanding their own responsibilities and limitations. The learner will also have an understanding of risk assessment and how to promote a positive and supportive workplace culture.
The learner will:
- Understand how organisational policies and procedures can contribute to a positive and safe working environment
- Understand personal responsibilities and limitations in contributing to a positive and safe working environment
- Understand risk assessments in the workplace
- Understand the importance of a positive and supportive culture in the workplace
- Understand personal safety in terms of lone working
Unit 2 – Violence in the workplace
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of workplace violence. Learners will understand the possible causes of violence in the workplace, how to reduce the risk of workplace violence and reporting procedures to follow when workplace violence occurs.
The learner will:
- Understand workplace violence
- Understand the possible causes of violence in the workplace
- Understand the reporting procedures following workplace violence
- Understand how to prevent the risk of violence in the workplace
Unit 3 – Understanding aggression, bullying and harassment in the workplace
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with an understanding of aggressive behaviour, bullying and harassment in the workplace, including techniques to de-escalate such behaviour, and to outline the impact that aggressive communications can have on the workplace.
The learner will:
- Understand aggression and how to deal with aggressive people in the workplace
- Understand bullying and harassment in the workplace
- Understand how to respond to bullying or harassment in the workplace
- Understand aggressive communication within the workplace
Unit 4 – Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
The aim of this unit is for the learner to develop an understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This will include current workplace legislation and how individual rights are protected.
The learner will:
- Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace
- Understand how the rights of individuals are protected in the workplace
